What If You Could See What Your Math Teachers Actually Experience?

A rare, invitation-only conversation for a small group of school leaders — built around evidence, not evaluation.

Most school leaders want the same thing after a math classroom observation: a real conversation. One that doesn't feel like an evaluation to the teacher, doesn't require you to be a math expert, and actually leads somewhere useful.

Most of the time, that conversation doesn't happen — not because anyone is failing, but because both sides are working without a shared lens. Leaders aren't sure what they saw. Teachers aren't sure what's coming. And the gap between intention and impact stays invisible.

The "I See You" Conversation was designed to make that gap visible.

What Is The "I See You" Conversation?

The "I See You" Conversation is a two-part national listening experience unfolding across one week.


Session 1 — Tuesday, May 5 A small, carefully selected group of math teachers from across the country gathers for a 90-minute facilitated conversation about what classroom observations and post-observation feedback actually feel like from their side of the desk.


Session 2 — Thursday, May 7 A small, carefully selected group of school leaders gathers for a 90-minute facilitated conversation about their own intentions, challenges, and questions around math classroom observations. At the center of the conversation is a synthesized report of what teachers shared two nights before — revealing patterns that are rarely visible in day-to-day school life.


You come as a leader with real questions. You leave with a clearer picture of what's actually happening — and what's possible.

What the 90 Minutes Will Look Like

This is a facilitated conversation, not a training. Dr. Pamela Seda will guide the discussion through four questions designed to surface your honest experience as a leader navigating math instructional feedback. There is no presentation to sit through, no right answers to perform, and no evaluation of your practice.
 

Midway through the session, you'll hear a synthesized report of what math teachers shared on Tuesday evening — their honest accounts of what post-observation conversations feel like, what gets in the way of growth, and what they wish leaders understood. You'll have space to respond, reflect, and ask questions.
 

The conversation closes with a focused discussion on what could be different — and what it would take to get there.

Who We're Looking For

We are building a small group of leaders who represent a range of school contexts, roles, and experiences. We're looking for leaders who:

  • Serve as building-level principals, assistant principals, or instructional coaches

  • Conduct or oversee math teacher observations

  • Come from a range of school settings — urban, suburban, and rural

  • Are willing to reflect honestly on what post-observation conversations have looked and felt like in their schools

​You do not need to have a math background. You do not need to have figured this out. You need to be genuinely curious about what's happening on the other side of the observation — and willing to sit with what you hear.

Why This Conversation Is Different

It's not a training.

There is nothing to learn before you arrive and nothing to implement afterward unless you choose to. This is a space to think, not a space to be taught.​

It starts with teachers.

​Most leadership development asks leaders to reflect on their own practice in isolation. This conversation gives you something most leaders never have access to — the honest, anonymized perspective of math teachers from across the country, synthesized and placed directly in front of you.​

It's intentionally small.

This conversation only works because every person in the room is genuinely present. That's why space is limited to 20 leaders. Selected participants receive a personal invitation — not a confirmation email, but a direct, personal note from Dr. Seda's team.​
